April 15, 2008

JOLIET -- Ralph Martire, executive director of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability and newspaper columnist, has been named the new keynote speaker at Wednesday's Money Smart 2008 seminar.

Will County Treasurer Pat McGuire, who is sponsoring the free event with the Joliet Junior College Phi Theta Kappa honor society, announced the change. Martire replaces Lt. Gov. Pat Quinn, who now is unable to attend.

Martire will deliver the keynote address, Financial Literacy and the Future of Illinois, at 10:15 a.m.

Money Smart 2008 will be presented from 10 a.m. to 2:50 p.m. Wednesday in rooms 1000, 1001 and 1002 in the T building at the college's main campus, 1215 Houbolt Road.

The event is open to all who would like to learn more about saving, credit, budgeting, and entrepreneurship. Participants may attend as many sessions as they wish. No registration is required. For information, contact deputy treasurer Michael Steward at (815) 740-4692 or visit www.willcountytreasurer.com.
