Central Illinois retired teachers to discuss state's finances on April 21
DECATUR - The Retired Teachers of Christian County partnered with five other central Illinois retired teacher groups to discuss the state's fiscal problems on April 21.
Officials say the meeting included retired teachers from Macon, Shelby, Moultrie, Montgomery, Christian, and Bond Counties, and was held at Richland Community College Thursday afternoon. Governor Bruce Rauner, the Teacher Retirement System's Director and board of trustees, and the director and board of trustees for the Illinois Retired Teachers Association were invited to attend this event.
The featured speaker was the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability's Executive Director Ralph Martire. Martire discussed the state's current fiscal climate, and possible solutions to help Illinois achieve sustainable fiscal health.
