Join Representative Carol Ammons and Center for Tax and Budget Accountability Executive Director Ralph Martire for a presentation examining how Illinois' budget cuts to higher education have impacted public higher education institutions.

The Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, the Office of the Provost and the Center for Urban Research and Learning at Loyola University host a discussion on the impact of Illinois’ budget cuts on higher education. This program was recorded by Chicago Access Network Television (CAN TV).

The Center for Tax and Budget Accountability is hosting a series of panel discussions across the state examining Illinois’ budget cuts to higher education. Overall, state funding for Higher Education in FY2016 was cut by $1.318 billion or 67.9% from FY2015 levels.

In 2016, Illinois closed its first fiscal year ever without a full General Fund budget passed by the legislature and signed into law by the governor. Halfway through FY2017, decision makers have again failed to enact a budget-with no clear resolution in sight.
